Ryan Medlock - profile

I have been drawing from a young age, my neurologist said it was my form of dealing with my medical problems and coping with the outside world. I have won competitions in childrens magazines, and been commissioned to produce work, including for the Titanic museum in Southampton and Surrey Council's ‘Surrey Choices’ programme.

My artwork is about my character ‘Bear’ and my life.  It's about how I see the world and the things happening around me in comic form.  The format is mainly unspoken, without words, which is how I see myself and Autistic people who struggle to express themselves verbally, but who are extremely aware of their surroundings and what is happening albeit differently to their norm, whatever is the 'norm'.
