Port Stories is an exciting new community-driven project led by Figment Arts, inviting local residents of Eastbrook Ward to explore and celebrate the rich 250-year heritage of Shoreham Harbour. This historic port, nestled between the community and the coastline, holds generations of untold stories—now it’s time to bring them to life.

Over the course of 12 months, Port Stories will use a range of creative tools to research, document, and re-tell the stories of the harbour’s working past. Participants will work with experienced facilitators to develop skills in:

  • Mapping & Painting – Visualizing the harbour’s transformation over time.
  • Photography & Video – Capturing the present-day port and uncovering historic imagery.
  • Audio Recording & Soundscapes – Collecting oral histories, ambient sounds, and maritime rhythms to bring the harbour’s past to life through immersive listening experiences.

What will we do?

Interactive Walks & Public Launch

One of the key outcomes of Port Stories will be the creation of a series of interactive walks, combining audio trails and sound installations to immerse visitors in the history of the port.

These interactive experiences will be launched in May 2026 at the Community Centre and key locations around Shoreham Harbour, offering the public a unique way to connect with the area’s industrial and cultural past through sound.
